The racing carnival in Victoria was closed to-day with the Williamstown Cup meeting, which was run in ideal weather. The Williamstown Cup resulted:— Cimbrian, 7.8 (Phillips) 1; Lineage, 7.0 (Elliott) 2; Taisho. 7.8 (O’Brien) 3. Fifteen started. The pacetnakrs were Limber Up, Some Quality, Octember and Red Sea, but at the home turn Lineage and Taisho were the leaders. There was a good fight up the straight, where Cimbrian overhauled Lineage and won by half a neck, with two lengths between second and third. Opera Queen was fourth. Time, 2.31|.
