N.Z. ASSOCIATION MEETING. POSSIBLE VISITS MENTIONED. Wellington, sept. 2. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held to-night, the president (Mr. J. C.Peacock) occupying the chair. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the president said that the number of tennis players in New Zealand was now 27.000, and on a population basis that was the largest number of almost any country in the world. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:— Patron, His Excellency the GovernorGeneral (Sir Charles Furgusson); president, Mr. M. Fenwicke (Hastings) ; vice-presidents, presidents of the district associations ; delegates to the Lawn Tennis Association, London, and the International Lawn Tennis Federation, ■ Mr. F. H. Woodward, M.8.E.; management committee, Messrs M. E. Denniston, G. Gore, H. I. Graves, A. G. Henderson, N. A. Foden, S. A. Longuet, P. WhiteParsons ; hon. auditor, Mr. F. 0. Austin. Mr. Fenwicke, the now president is an old player. He was New Zealand singles champion in 1889, 1892 and 1893, and in 1886 won the New Zealand championship doubles with P. C. Fenwicke, in 1889 with J. F. Jardine, and in 1891 with A. F. Logan. Mr. N. A. Foden gave notice of motion that in future years the balls to be used at the New Zealand lawn tennis championshijps should lie selected on the vote of the council. The management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association is in communication with the obiect of arranging for a visit of a South African team to New Zealand in 1931. At the Hawke's Bay Lawn Tennis Association's annual general meeting the annual renort and balance-sheet were presented. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, the president ol the Dannevirke Club; vice-presidents, the presidents of all other affiliated clubs; secretary, Mr. C. J. Bagley; auditor, Mr. H. G. Thompson. selector, Mr. McCaskill; delegates to the council of the New Zealand Asso ciation, Dr. W, B. Mercer and Mr F. Grady. The Provincial Championships wen allotted to the Dannevirke Club, and subject to the approval of the New Zealand Association, will probably be held towards the end of January next. Two challenge cups have been allotted by the Hawke's Bay Association to the respective winners of the boys’ and girls’ championship singles in the provincial tournament. Wairarapa and Wanganui Associations are to be invited to visit ! Hawke's Bay in the coming season. The Junior Tennis Sub-Committee is to report to the next meeting of the association concerning the hold ing of a Hawke’s Bay junior tournament during the first school term of 1930. Such a tournament may be held, if it is at all feasible, and sufficient help is forthcoming. The association accepted with regret the resignation of Mr. Patrick, whose departure to Auckland eventuates very shortly. A vote of appreciation of his services was carried by acclamation, and was recorded in the minutes.
