A meeting of shareholders in the South Otago Freezing Company, convened on the iniative of one of the directors, was held at Balclutha yesterday afternoon, to discuss the offer of the directors to sell the works to the New Zealand Refrigerating Company and the Southland Frozen Meat Company, for £60,000 Various alternative proposals were discussed, and finally a committee was appointed to ascertain the amount of support that would be forthcoming tor the purpose of buying out the investing shareholders and running the works solely in the interest of the farmers themselves. In the meantime, the purchasing company has announced that it desires to run the works to full capacity next season. OTANE STOCK SALE. The following sales were effected at Otane yesterday:— N.Z Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd.—.B fat ewes 20/6, 52 m.s. lambs 20/3, 31 store ewes 11/-. Porangahau sale : 106 4 and 5-yr ewes 16/8.
