STATE ADVANCES TO SETTLERS
AMOUNT PAID OUT SINCE DECEMBER LAST. I.OAN MONEY ADDED TO CAPITAL. Wellington Feb. 28. With regard to advances to settlers end workers, Sir Joseph Ward stated to-day that from December 10 to Febr uary 27, £1245,765 was authorised, comprising 6H) applications by settlers and 592 by workers. Tho actual amounts paid over during the period were £413,175 to 31 settlers and £358,975 to 409 workers. Tho applicants concerned in the balance of the £1,235,765 had been advised that the money was available, and would be paid over in due course. . Since December Ist new loan money amounting to £1,166,850 had been added to the capital of the State Advances Office. These facts showed that there had been no delay on the part, of the State Advances Office ip giving effect to the Government’s policy.
