The judge, Mr. Trussell, said that he was very pleased with the performers and a number of boys were going to make very promising players The winner eave a wonderful performance and if he were a sporting man and inclined to speculate a little he would say that he was the finest hoy trombone player in the southern hemisphere. He takes Beggs’ priie also for the most artistic rendering—and if was certainly very artistic. The judge also made complimentary reference to the second and third plavors. bnt the latter, however, was inclined to race. ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE. (Per P-eie Association.! Wanganui, March 1. The North Island Band Contest Association’s Conference was held this morning. Mr H. D. Bennett presiding. In moving the adoption of the report, the chairman referred to the fine playing nt the contest and congratulated the Wanganui Contest Committee on securing a iudgo of siirh outstanding ability ns Mr J. T. Rees, who had given entire satisfaction. The election of officer* resulted :— President. Mr H. D. Bennett (reelected): Mr J. G. Oshorne (re-elect-ed) secretary. As Wellington was the only applicant. it was decided that the 1930 championships contest be held in that city.
