N.Z. WHOLESALE CLOTHING TRADE’S REQUEST. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, Feb. 28. The New Zealand wholesale clothing trade wants a safeguarding tariff. A deputation waited on the Manufacturers’ Conference to-day placing the position before it. Statements were made that owing to the unemployment position at Homo the worst sweating conditions exist in tho industry there and the Dominion was being flooded with “sweated” goods. The deputation said that there was no intention of getting up a deputation to the Prime Minister but they wished to co-operate with the. deputation proposed by the Federation. The employees were arranging for a deputation earlv in March. The conference decided to instruct the Federation officers to assist the clothing manufacturers in presenting their case to the Premier.
