GOOD FAT CATTLE IN DEMAND. FAT SHEEP SLIGHTLY FIRMER. There was a small entry of cattle and a moderate yarding of sheep at Stortford Lodge saleyards to-day, offered to a fair attendance of buyers. Good fat cattle were in keen demand, and sold at prices a little above late rates. Fat sheep were also slightly firmer in prire than at last sale, while store sheep were a little easier. Some very good lines of store sheep were yarded and where quality was good competition was keen. A fair part of tne yarding had still to be offered when we went to press, but prices showed a tendency to ease off. FAT CATTLE. Bullocks.—Prime £l4 10/- to £l5 2/6; medium £l2 10/- to £l3 5/-. Cows: Prime £l3; medium £8 10/to £9 15/-; vealers £1 13/-. STORE CATTLE. 18 3 and 4-yr. fairly good bullocks from Mr. McKinnon, Arapawanui, realised £l2 3/-; 3 indifferently bred 3-yr. steers £9 10/-; 3 2yr. steers £7; 4 2-yr. steers £6. DAIRY CATTLE. 1 good-looking Jersey cow on drop not guaranteed £9 5/-. FAT SHEEP. Wethers.—Prime heavy 31/6, prime 30/10. unfinished 28/9. Ewes—Prime heavy 22/6 to 23/6, prime 21/- to 22/6, medium 20/- to 20/6. Two-tooths.—Sß. m.s. good quality but small passed at 26/-: Romney weds, early shorn fetched 28/-; S.D. x well finished 28/-. STORE SHEEP. Lambs—Prices for lambs eased as the sale progressed. 196 small woolly m.s. lambs, a poor E. Leicester-cross and lather mixed, fetched 15/9; 300 small to medium m.s. woolly E.L. x 20/3; 206 S.D. x, some small, not been picked for fats 22/6; 232 small S.D. x, fair, only passed at 18/-; 130 Romney wed lambs from Arapawanui district, Irghtboned and a tail of small ones, fetched 17/-; 169 fair to good w.w. lambs 20/10; 177 fairly wellgrown w.w. lambs, cheap at 19/-: 150 fairly good w.w. lambs, well woolled, cheap at 19/6; 59 small w.w. lambs ex Putarino 15/8; 106 cull w.w. lambs from same district, dear at 15/3; 74 woolly Jainbs from same place but slightly better grown 16/4; 69 ~ood lambs, well-grown and in good fwd. cond., probably the best line of lambs in the yards, 23/2; 114 good w.w. lambs well-grown and in fresh cond., 23/6. Wethers 143 fwd. 4-th. longlegged fine-skinned Romneys from Tutira districts passed at 27/10: 378 fat and fwd. well-grown 2-ths.. a good line, realised 27/9; 207 small to medium 4-th. fwd. weds. 28/6. Ewes.—429 small to medium Rom x ewes ex Springhill Station, in fairly good cond., 31 3: 330 well-bred good framed s.tn breeding ewes in good fresh cond., an attractive line. 24/4; 260 first-class 2-ths., one mark, one of the best lines yarded for some time, passed at 34/-; 228 smallish but even 2-th. ewes Roni, x from Ngatarawa district, passed at 31/6; 50 aged breeding ewes good frames and fair cond., mouths not guaranteed fetched 21/6; 66 aged ewes, medium frames, some in fresh cond., 16/7; 106 late shorn 5-yr. Poporangi ewes, small to medium frames, iu fresh store cond., 22/6.
