MAN’S INHUMANITY TO MAN.

(To the Editor.) Sir, Considering the fart that the Hastings Borough Council lias made a bold and successful bid to regulate and control its heavy and varied traffic, it is not without some feelings of annoyance that I ant compelled to ask you, Sir, to air a grievance against one section of that traffic, and that section the least necessary and tire most unproductive, too. For years past 1 have been invalided at my home in Karamu road with the absolute loss of physical capability, and under such conditions the motor bike traffic which can be heard on the Karamu road opposite my sleeping room, and at all hours of the night, is in excess of what any human being—under such or any conditions—should bo expected to boar. Being all on the show-off principle, up and down the road, with open exhaust and no silencer (or purposely turned off), such heartless conduct in my case amounts to manslaughter. If, when notified through your columns, this class of inhumanity is still persisted in, surely some steps can be taken to enforce the by-laws and stop this all-night and day torture, especially as there is not the slightest necessity for these cyclists to make night hideous only to attract attention to themselves and their doings.—l am, etc., GEORGE MERCER. Hastings. 22/1/29.
