Australian Trade Treaty: Reports emanating from Conservative quarters in Ottawa hint that a revision of dlie Australian trade duty is looming. It is pointed out that Australia has often asked for a revision, particularly regarding raising the duu Trade statistics indicate that Canada is having the better of the bargain. The treaty Is highly commended by Canadian circles which have benefited, but it is criticised by those adversely affected at times. The offer may propose that Australia exchanges preference in everything extended by the two dominions to the Motherland but not to each other. The National Dairy Council’s complaints against New Zealand butter have died down.

Whilst Mr. Clem Ah Chee, of Remuera, Auckland, was attending his brother’s funeral on Tuesday afternoon, his house was broken into and considerable damage done by thieves who were evidently after money. The intruders left everything in disorder. A revolver was amongst the articles which were stolen. Entry was obtained through a door which was prised open so that the wood was split. Furniture was overturned, drawers opened, and their contents littered about the place. The total value of the stolen property was about £l2, including almost £9 in money.
