BAY OF ISLANDS MEETING

CUP TO FAR NORTH. THE END OF EH TIMI. Whangarei, Jan. 19. A record attendance patronised the annual racing fixture of the Bay of Islands Club,( held at Kawkawa today in brilliant weather, with the track in excellent going order. Hie totalisator handled £8646 as against £9235 last year. During the running of the cup race, after traversing two furlongs, Eh Timi fell, bringing down Alonsoa. The former’s back was broken and the animal was subsequently destroyed. Alonsoa sustained a nasty gash near the shoulder necessitating veterinary attention. The respective jockeys, Spinks nnd Cammiek, were removed to the Kawakowa Hospital, suqering from concussion. Neither case is regarded as serious.
