NUT BREAD.
Two breakfast cups flour, } cup chopped walnuts, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 egg, 1 small piece butter, 2 teaspoons baking powder, a few raisins, a little milk. Make the dough fairly stiff and bake iu a crisp oven.
SCOTCH SHORTBREAD. 11b. flour, (lb. butter, jib fine sugar. Alix flour and sugar. Knead the butter into the mixture, being careful to keep the butter in one lump till the mixture is incorporated. Flatten out and shape with the hands, then with a rolling-pin make smooth and neat. Prick all over with a fork and pinch the edges. Bake in a slow oven about three-quarters of an houi.
