A MORNING TEA

Mrs Milne, who is a popular Dunedin hostess, and who has been staying in Hastings with her sister, Mrs J. Landels, gave a most enjoyable morning tea on Thursday at Roach’s tea-room, to those whom she had met during her visit. Everyone sat at a long table, which was gay with flowers and laden with delectable food, and a'll spent a happy time with conversation, hearing meanwhile in the background some bright gramophone selections. After tea early strawberries were handed round in little bowls and much enjoyed. Mrs Milne received her guests wearing a model ensemble which was very becoming. The frock was of navyblue beige and scariet spoted ninon, with navy-blue satin inset, and a scarf collar and her hat was of fine black Bangkok straw with a scalloped brim and diamond brooch buckle.

Mrs J. Landels wore a hand-made and haud-hemistiched French frock of silver-grey crepe-de-chine. with a large sapphire-blue hat .with heavy coloured embroidery banding the crown, and a deeper grey fox fur. Miss Joan Landels was in leaf-green Shantung silk with a pleated jabot, and she had a large green Bangkok straw hat to match.

Mrs H. Glazebrook came in an ivory silk jumper suit, and she wore a pretty hat lined underneath with becoming blue and white figured silk. Mrs Hogg, navy-blue dress with Oriental relief inset and a skunk fur and navy-blue hat. Mrs P. H. Burr, rose-de-Barri frock and a smart black coat with beige fox fur, and black hat with rose trimming.

Mrs R. J. Robertson, black and beige crepe-de-chine jumper ensemlile, with a finely-pleated skirt, beige vest anti black Bangkok hat. Mrs Wallace, leaf-green linen dress, with a black hat.

Mrs de Denne, lettuce-green and beige crepe-de-chine. with a green hat. Mrs Woodward, royal blue and white patterned crepe-de-chine, and a smart black hat.

Mrs H. Fannin, soft grey and blue Shantung silk ensemble, and a grey hat.

Mrs A. Rainbow, Lido-blue silk frock and a silver-grey silk coat, and grey felt hat. Mrs Stewart, hair-cord crepe-de-chin in Lido-blue tones, a tulle scarf, and deeper blue hat. Mrs F. von Dadelszen, navy blue coat and a georgette and crepe-de-chine frock, with a cyclamen hat. Mrs A. Van tailored saxe crepe-de-chine dress and navy blue hat.

Miss Munro, smart rose silk dress with a hat of deeper rose. Mrs Newbigin. a patterned crepe-de-chine dress of white and black, and a wide Bangkok hat trimmed with black cire ribbon.

- Miss M. Baird, grey silk ensemble with insets of rose, and a grey hat. Miss P. Baird, rose-de-Barri en semble with a smart scarf and hat to tone.

Mrs Keith Thorburn, honey and rose patterned crepe-de-chine dress, and a honey-coloured Bangkok hat. Mrs Jack Couper. deep beige tailored ensemble with calfskin trimming, and a bright scarf and hat to tone. Mrs Candy, pretty green tailored crepe-de-chine, and a smart little black hat

Mrs j. A. Miller, jsmart black silk coat and black dress, and chic black hat.

Mrs H. Small, navy-blue and beige two-piece suit, and a navy-blue hat. Miss Dugleby, rose beige figured ense.mble. and a rose hat to tone. Mrs W. Macfarlane, rose-de-Barri tailored ensemble, and a navy-hlue hat with tiny roses. Mrs Cameron, tailored beige cloth coat, and a black hat.

Mrs Gonville Saunders, effective black frock with pleated beige georgette vest, and a black hat. Mrs Hursthouse, navy-blue crepe-de-chine coat, and a mushroom hat to tone.

Mrs Masterson, beige and cerise two-piece silk knitted suit, and a pretty black hat. Mrs Nelson Fowler, navy-blue silk crepe marocain with vivid relief inset and a navy-blue hat.
