RICCARTON GALLOPS. AN OFF MORNING. (Per Press Association.! Christchurch, August 10. The weather was mild for training operations at Riccarton, but proceedings were very quiet. Some of the trainers gave their horses useful tasks, but there was no serious galloping. Matu and Passin’ Through strode over a circuit at a strong paoe. Brigadier Bill and Kilburn did a working gallop over six furlongs. Yesterday’s northern arrivals were given useful tasks. They ail look well.

Scion moved freely in a working gallop of one mile. Prompter and Standard were schooled over the hurdles. After jumping one fairly well they finished at the second, where Prompter lost his rider and Standard refused. '

Rangiawahio and Picannniny gave a fair exhibition over four hurdles.

Most of the horses out were given easy pace work on ’the sand. To-day’s arrivals from the north are: Nucleus, Home Made and Boy, while Dollar Princess has arrived from North Canterbury.
