The corresponding figures for 1926-27 were: Exports £46.895.082; imports. £47,373.687: excess of imports. £978,605. The substantial improvement in the trade balance for 1927-28 is due to an increased return from exports amounting to £9.224.203 and to a curtailment in imnnrts of £') 875,745.
