H.B. JOCKEY CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. TO-MORROW MORNING. At the annual meeting of the’ Hawke’s Bav Jockey Club, to be held to-morrow (Friday) morning at the Jockey Club’s rooms, Market street, Hastings, the following annual report will be submitted by Mr. T. H. Lowry, president:— “Your committee has again to express regret in announcing a loss on the year’s operation. “Though the financial stress has been very pronounced, you are asked to note particularly that economies have been rigidly practised during the yeai, expenses generally being reduced by £BOO in race meeting and general account. “Remission of a proportion of totalisator taxation by the Government is greatly appreciated by the chib Though not benefiting the club's bank balance, the portion remitted only being granted on the effecting of improvements, it allows the dub to carry out important works “We record the loss of the following members with deep regret, Messrs A. S G. Carlyon, A. Frederickson, L. M. McHardy, J. Nairn, H. M. Rathbone. J. I. Wellwood. “For the valuable services renrendered to the club by our hon. veterinary surgeon, Mr. A. M. Brodie, we desire to express our high appreciation and also for the services of our hon. timekeeper. Mr W. E. Couper. “I have to report the following officers have been nominated and duly elected unopposed: President. Mr. T. H. T.owry: vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Reid and H. A. Russell; hon. treasurer. Mr. J. S. McLeod. “For the committee there are ten nominations for the ten vacancies.
