TAKAPAU.
BACHELORS’ AND SPINSTERS’ BALL. (Own Correspondent.) An invitation ball given by the bachelors and spinsters of Takapau district was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening, and it proved to oe one of the most successful and popular evenings of the season so far and adds another success to the already long lino of enjoyable evenings that have been given by the bachelors uf Takapau and surrounding district. There was a large attendance, guests being present from Dannevirke, Norse wood, Ormondville, Waipukurau, Wai pawa and other centres.
Mr W. Duncan’s orchestra made the evening’s dancing particularly enjoyable and the floor was well controlled by the M’s.C., Messrs G. Speedy, C. Smith and C. McLeod. The ball secretaries. Miss G. KiL ford anJ Mr A. Jackson, worked with a will to make tho evening as successful as it was and they were ably supported by an energetic ball committee. The decorations were carried out in artistic style, tho platform being reserved and furnished for non-dancers. Mr Askew catered for a buffet supper which with the con vcniences and arrangements for serving met with much approval. That the ball was under very capable management is proved by the fact that in addition to providing so enjoyable an evening it was also financially successful.
