LETTER FROM CHIEF KIWI.

KIWIS, —Methinks that this week will give poor Mr Printer food for much thought. Entries grow ever more numerous, and those that I am sending to the publishing room were rescued from the files, having proved too great a burden for the space of the page last week. Even now I have had. with regret to hold back all the senior jokes and riddles, as the juniors have preference this week. Next week many of them will appear, together with the entries which reached me last Monday. Borne of you who miss seeing your entries printed, may find the reason in the following remarks:— Dol'y M<V, no address. Ruby Polling and Hugh Nor well essays on both sides of paper. Margaret Andrew no age Hazel Mardon, part of essay left out, but otherwise of interest. We give a cordinl welcome to ten new Kiwis, whose names are Esmond Cross Walter New rick (Waipukuran). Jean Pederson, Colin Breuer. Theresa Andrew. Vera Venables Patricia Burgess Gladys Jenkins. Grace Sparworth and Tricia Poll. The entries of the last four named were faulty. Patricia and Gladys forgot to leave a margin and Grace and Trixie broke the rules by including n joke on their essay paper. Was your essay entirely your own composition. Trixie. My thanks fosilver paper to Raymond Herbison, Erie Honey. Marie Robins Lewis Clarke. Mend .Tones. Dick Hickson and Elsie Leipat.

No one could possibly complain c dullness this week. Yonr letters are full of interest, and T wish there were space for me to reply to them, but I can only send you my love and assurance of my unfailing interest in yn"r hobbies and outings. Wo all sen l nor love and kindest thoughts to Sylvia Smvth, who is having such a long, weary time in hospital. —CHIEF KIWI.
