SUCCESSFUL BALL

CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB Very brilliant streamers of emerald green and white caught to a large centre chandelier-lantern of emerald. with coloured electric lights interspersed, were the decorations chosen bv those who were responsible for the Celtic Football Club ball on Wednesday. A ladies’ committee had arranged an excellent supper which was fully appreciated, the tables looking very pretty with bowls of narcissi. Under the supervision of the M’s.C. (Messrs J. E. Keith and E. Fitzgerald) a most enjoyable evening was spent dancing to the strains of Walden’s orchestra. Streamer and spotlight dances were very popular. The following were the social committee : — Messrs. W. Blake, L. Eddy. E. Fitzgerald, G. Geddis, H. Horton, J. Keith and J. Seed, with Mr. W. Richards as honorary secretary. Mrs. Fitzgerald, black crepe-de-chine with touches of cream lace. Mrs. Geddis, black Chantilly lace dress mounted on black georgette with small paste buckle catching the lace draper? at the waist. Mrs. Annan, rose pink taffetas Victorian frock with gathered lace panels inset and silver brocaded shoes. Miss P. Garvey, smart black dress with vivid Spanish shawl. Miss G. Geddis, dainty dress of apricot taffetas. Mrs. A. J. Manson, black georgette dress beautifully embroidered in tones of rose. Mrs. Henderson, amethyst panne velvet dress with deep silver lace on the skirt. Mrs. Blake, flame-orange taffetas dress with net yandyked hem and applique flowers in bright colours, with gold shoes and a Spanish .shawl. Miss Bamfortn dainty flame frock with tulle skirt and blue fringed Spanish shawl. Msis I. Fitzgerald, pale flesh crepe-de-chine beaded with a cerise shoulder flower. Miss Fitzgerald, ruby chiffon-velvet with deep hem of silver lace. Miss Geddis, pink taffetas frock with close-fitting bodice and vandyked hem stencilled in pastel blue. Miss Kennedy, sappire blue taffetas with close fitting bodice and skirt of tiny frills of picot taffetas on gold net. A blue and mauve shawl was worn. Miss Cleary, soft Indian rose frock with silver lace. Miss Murtagh black taffetas with a bright flower. Miss Winstone, dainty lilac frock with tiered shaded skirt. Miss Tomlin-

son, pillar-box red georgette with effective relief of lace and shoulder flower. Miss Gardiner, cerise taffetas Victorian frock. Miss Begley, model jade georgette dress beautifully beaded in the same tones. Miss Koorey, apricot crepe-de-chine with silver lace and a shoulder posy. Miss Haxton, jade georgette frock with deep amber flowers at the waist. Miss D. Haxton, pale blue crepe-de-chine with dainty pale pink panels of lace. Miss Wilton, red panne velvet with silver lace hem. Miss Shepherd, nather blue lace and georgette frock attractively made, with a tiered skirt. Miss G. Farmery, apricot and silver shot taffetas with effective embroideries. Miss Lankovsky. cau-dceiiil tagecas frock. Miss Shoilard, pink and silver brocaded frock, with silver lace. Miss Parker, blue crepe-de-chine. Miss L. Wilson, mauve charmeuse with bands of silver metal lace. Miss D. Fraser, emerald taffetas. Miss Beryl Adams, black crepe-de-chine with gold lace. Miss Shinnick, dainty green satin and silver tissue frock, with Nile green Spanish shawl to tone. Miss E. Shinnick, black panne velvet frock with bright shoulder flower. Miss A. Campbell, turquoise crepe-de-chine with silver shoes. Miss Clareburt, eau-de-nil satin frock with tiered georgette skirt to tone, finished with tiny flowers and a soft satin hip bow. Miss N. Fitzgibbons, pale green frock with fine silver lace, and silver shoes. Miss Manning, flame panne velvet, with large hip flower. Miss E. Stubbs, pale maize taffetas with vandyked hem edged with tiny frills. Miss Hassett flame satin charmeuse frock with effective relief and bodice of silver brocaded tissue, and Spanish shawl to tone. Miss. Cliff, black panne velvet with bright shoulder spray. Miss Olive Nelson, dance dress of rick sky hlue and silt er floral brocade. Miss Blowes, blue and silver tiered frock. Miss Carter (Napier) flame crepe-de-chine with large panne velvet flowers at the hem. Miss E. Carterr, pale flesh pink crepe-de-chine, with Spanish shawl to tone. Miss Simcox, dainty frock with bodice of ecru lace oyer pale green, and skirt of tiny frills in eau-de-nil crepe-de-chine. Miss Duigan, mauve toned floral ninon mounted on crepe-de-chine to tone. Miss Bullot, cerise Victorian taffetas frock, with silver shoes. Miss M. Lloyd, black taffetas, with vivid coloured passementerie applique on the skirt.
