WOMEN’S WORK
FOR “ABBOTTSFORD,” WAIPAWA, Hearing that the new Children’s Home, “Abbottsford,” at Waipawa, needed much in the way of bedding and garments, an organised effort was made bv the members of St. Matthew’s Women’s Sewing Guild to help with the necessary articles. An afternoon was set aside for this puipose, and it was really wonderful what was achieved in so short a time. An electric sewing machine hummed busily, and the other machines were also kept going, while nnmbers of women stitched by hand. A large pile of wadded bed covers were among the things made, and nil kinds of other articles to help small children with their clothing and bedding. A leading member of the Guild consequently was enabled to drive a laden car to Waipawa with substantial help from Hastings for this newly inaugurated establishment for homeless childcer..
