LADIES’ GUILD. (Our Correspondent.) The July meeting of the Ladies’ Guild was held in the church; Mrs Baker (president) in the chair. There was a large attendance of membeis and also a deputation from the Clive Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild. Two new members—Mesdames Kelsel and Somerville —were elected and were welcomed to the Guild. Accounts totalling £7 9s 4d were passed for payment. It was resolved that an electric radiator be purchased for the church, and as the funds of the Guild are depleted owing to heavy expense in connection with the electric installation in the church an appeal is to mads to the members of the different congregations asking for Is subscription to wards the cost. Twelve shillings were collected from the members of the Guild present towards tho radiator fund.
After the business mad been dealt with, a most pleasant social hour was spent with the visitors. A competition, conducted by Mrs Baker, caused much interest and amusement; the winner Mrs Young, being handed a dainty little trophy. Mrs Morgan and Mrs Somerville contributed sales, which were greatly enjoyed, Mrs Castle officiating at the organ'in her usual able manner. Opportunity was taxon of the presence of Mr H. Gould, Home Missionary at Clive, to thank him for tho corpentry work done by him in tho church, and vestry. His willing help in this direction has been much appreciated by all the members of tho Guild. A dainty afternoon tea was handed round by Mesdames Bridgman and Florence, to whom a hearty vote of thanks was accorded. Mrs Tucker, on behalf of the Clive Ladies’ Guild, thanked the members for the pleasant time spent, and hoped that the two Guilds would have future opportunities of meeting. The next meeting of the Guild is to be held in the church on Tuesday. 7th August, at 3 p.m.
