Mexico City, August 2. Americans here fear the beginning of a reign of blood, with terrible reprisals before the Obregon assassination is expiated. The AttorneyGeneral, Nieto, in a formal statement, asserts that Jose Toral belonged to an organisation led by the Abbess Maria Conception. “I am convinced,” declare Nieto, “tjiat this group of individuals who directly or indirectly participated in Obregon’s murder, belonged to a Terrorist organisation headed by none other than the Abbess Maria, an intelligent woman, who has been trying to mislead justice. This organisation resembles the Russian Nihilist societies, and some Italian associations have been formed under its auspices to make an attempt on the life of Mussolini.”
