CHILD’S RARE DISEASE

NO SLEEP FOR SIX WEEKS. Sydney, May 10. A child of three years of age. just discharged from the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children, in Sydnev. had no sleep for the six weeks she was in the institution. She was a victim of Pink’s disease, the effect of which undermines the whole system. One notable feature is its effects upon the muscles, which grow limp and wasted. Isolated for special treatment in a small room which adjoined the ward, the medical staff fought valiantly to cure the child. She was placed on a diet calculated to build un her constitution. Though the hospital discharged the girl in an improved condition, the disease'is so rare that medical science has not vet discovered a cure.
