PAKI PAKI.

On Wednesday evening last the School Committee held the first of the season’s dances in the local hall. There was a fair attendance and all enjoyed dancing to the music supplied by Mr. Wi Kani. The thanks of the committee are due to the many energetic workers who helped to make the function such a complete success.

The committee proposes commencing a series of card evenings along the lines which proved so popular last year, and it is assured of the support of all local residents in its endeavour to provide funds for the improvement of the school, A local resident. Mr. J. Kenrick. happened to be passing on horseback when two cars crashed near the Kennels on Wednesday evening and he was thrown heavily to the ground As a result Mr. Kenrick sustained rather severe injuries and will be confined to his bed for some little time. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery. Now that the attendance at the school numbers over 120. the danger of accident near the school gates is increasingly evident. There is a bad corner close at hand and no adeouate warning is given to motorists of the proximity of the school. The local committee has made representations to the County Council m regard to the matter, but as yet no action has been taken by that body.
