BOROUGH INSPECTORSHIP

MR. FAWCETT RESIGNS. TRIBUTES TO HIS SERVICES. After thirteen years’ association with the Hastings Borough staff, Mr. A. C. Fawcett, borough building inspector, tendered his resignation at the meeting of the Council last evening. Mr. Fawcett’s reason for relinquishing his office is that he has accepted a position elsewhere. In moving that the resignation be accepted with regret, the Mayor (Mr G. A. Maddison) stated that Mr. Fawcett’s services had been most valuable to the borough. It spoke well for Mr. Fawcett that he could satisfy his employers for thirteen years. Cr. J. Simmons stated that Mr. Fnwcett had been a true and faithful servant. The Council wished Mr. Fawcett every success in his new sphere and decided that in addition to giving him a testimonial, some token in recognition of his valuable services be also given. Mr. Fawcett was granted permission to relinquish his office on June 8.
