WAIPAWA.

(Own Correspondent.) The Oddfellows’ annua] ball was a pronounced success. The floor was crowded with dancers, and included in those present were prominent members of the order representing other lodges, besides the Grand Master for the district, Bro. K. A. Waite. The secretary of the dance committee, Bro H. J. Miller, and his associates in Sisters Grenside and Bloor, and Bro. E. Kingston had arranged for a perfect floor for dancing, whilst the decorations were prettily arranged. The supper arrangements also were all that could be desired. The music supplied bv Miss K O’Reilly and an orchestra of six players made dancing a pleasure. Glorious weather is being experienced in this district and this was particularly so on Tuesday. A large number of cars were in town during the afternoon, the occasionTfeing the weekly stock sales. The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court is to be held on Thursday. The Waipawa District High School was re-opened on Monday after the vacation with a full roll number. The monthly meeting of the committee is to be held on Thursday evening. Extensive alterations to the Abbotsford Lodge room are contemplated. These include a small stage, dressing room and kitchen, besides two ante rooms. The Waipawa senior football team are having a fery successful season, as evidenced lly the following positions :— Waipai'a 8 points. Waipukurau 6. Te Ante 4. Onga Onga 4, H. 5.0.8 2. Playing against Takapau on Saturday the team scored 17 points againsC their opponents’ nil. The third jjrade Waipawa High School team also had a meritorious win against Waipukurau, the scores being 30—5.
