Truth” recently, Messrs Mangham & Beckett tested out a certified Standard Austin 7 Touring Car on a ruu from Wellington to Wanganui and back in the same day, a total distance of 270 miles, which was accomplished between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The official running time was checked in at Bhrs. 46mins.— average speed 30.85 miles per hour on a fuel consumption of 41.46 miles per gallon. Total running cost covering fuel, oil and tyres worked out a seveneighths of a penny per mile for two passengers. This is not by any means an extraordinary performance for an Austin 7. Similar records of economy are being accomplished daily in New Zealand by hundreds of satisfied Austin 7 owners.
