TRANSPORT PROBLEMS
THE AUCKLAND DISTRICT. INDEPENDENT BOARD URGED. (Per Press Association). We'lington, March 19. A deputation front Auckland local bodies asked the Rt. Hon J. G. Coates to have an independent transport board appointed to control transport in the Auckland district. The proceedings were not open to the press, Mr Coates said ths Government proposed to have a comprehensive inquiry into the whole question of transport in Auckland by men from outside Auckland. He promised to consider the request that one of the commissioners be a man with local knowledge.
