From Auckland comes word of the death, at his home in Remuera, of Mr Edwin Bamford, for some years District Land Registrar at Napier and subsequently at Auckland, and eventually promoted to the position of Registrar-General of Land. He retired in 1911 and at his death had reached the advanced age of 82.

Lord Wu’irnn, private secretary to His Excellency the Governor-General Sir Charles J crgusson, who has been on an ’inofficial visit to Hastings, as the guest of Mr Godfrey Pharazyn, left by service car this afternoon on his return to Wellington. During his stay he visited Puketapu with Mr Pharazyn, and was an interested spectator at Saturday’s sports.

The death of Mr E. R. C. Bowen a very old resident of Napier, took place at his homo yesterday in bis 87th year. Mr Bowen, was born in County Mayo, Ireland, coming out to the Dominion sixty-one years ago. After being engaged for some years in surveying on the West Coast he joined the- Custom Department rising in the service until he became Collector of Customs at Napier. He was a man of high integrity and being much respected in the commercial world. He leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs J. A. McLean (Poranghau), and Miss Elsie Bowen (Wellington) for whom much sympathy will be felt. An only son died as a prisoner cf war in Turkey.

Tho funeral of a gentleman wc known in financial a.u commercial circles, Mr Frederick Parker took place at Waikumete. Mr Parker was born iu New Zealand 66 years ago, and was at one time an accountant in the office of the Inspector of the Bank of New South Wales nt Christchurch. Later he was ancountnnt at Napier, and was then appointed manager of tho branch at Gisborne, which position he held for 25 years. Mr Parker was next appointed manager at Dunedin, where he remained for 10 years. Ho retired on superannuation throe years ago and went to Auckland to reside at Ronin--1 ra. Deceased is survived by Mrs Parker and three sons. Air Parke wa on his way to Gisborne, hut became and denly ill at Rotorua, where he died. Inst Thursday.
