To-night (Monday) acceptances are due for the Poverty Bay and Tolaga Bay meetings, and on Friday those lor Wanganui when, also, nominations have to be in for both Moodvilie and Dannevirke E. Scoullar was to leave Christchurch for Dunedin to-day with Countersign and Rotor, who will compete at the Wingatui fixture I). Cotton has been engaged to pilot the three-year-old Satrap in the Dunedin Clip. C. Emerson will have the mount on Nincompoop in the important southern handicap. Martarma, who will be ridden by M. McCarten in his 4ustralian engagements, is booked to leave Wellington on March 16. The Great Northern Derby winner will be nominated for the Banks Peninsula Cup, to be run at Motukarara next month, and will then go on to Trentham to contest the New Zealand St. Leger.

The Dunedin Cup candidate, Thorndale, was responsible for a very attractive performance at Riccarton on Thursday morning, when, in a trial over six furlongs, he accounted for another Cup runner in Nincompoop. Another gallop that was full of merit was the effort of the three-year-old Satrap who decisively heal Luminant in a gallop over a mile, and in recording the smart time of Imin 44 2-ssec he took the honours of the morning over that distance. RICCARTON GALLOPS. The following Riccarton notes are taken from the Christchurch “Press” :— Track conditions were very hard for training at Riccarton on Thursday morning and again the plough was in general use. The live-fur long barrier was available, but only a few trainers took advantage of it. Full Feather beat Sudden Storm over four furlongs, run in 51 2-5, and Front Rank was not ridden out over a mile journey, the last six furlongs taking 1.21 v # * Rapier, with Lancer as a companion. executed strong work over seven furlongs, as did Don Jose and Battle Colours * * * Arikiwai finished well clear of Assurance at the end of a mile covered in 1.4,5 1-5. Skyquest and Quarterdeck were not extended to run six furlongs in 1.19 3-5. Limerick was restricted to slow work, sprinting home over four furlongs in 53. Zaragoza executed an easy mile task in 1.52. * * * Satrap finished half a length in front of Lurninant after traversing a mile in 1.41 1-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.30 2-5. This wa s a good gallop on the part of both horses The former went freely 'hroughout and with his New Zealand Derby performance as a guide his prospects over the twelve furlongs attached to the Dunedin Cup cannot, be overlooked Countersign beat Rotor over six furlongs run in 1.17 1-5. It has now been decided to take tin's pair to the Dunedin mecling and the former will fulfil her Dunedin Cup engagement.

Money Order gave h'is usual pleasing display whilst covering six furlongs, the last five taking 1.3 3-5. Stormy did easy pace work for a circuit, sprinting home half a miln in 52 2-5. Honeycomb and Merivale galloped five furlongs in 1.4 1-5, both moving attractively, and Ophir and Heisler recorded 1.18 for six furlongs Magna Charta and Amor strode over three furlongs in 38, Scoff recordng 39 for the same task. ♦ • • Thorndale favourably impressed bv beating Nincompoop over six furlongs, run in 1.16 3-5. Silver Coot galloped six furlongs in 1.17 and Margaret Birney occupied 1.32 for seven furlongs. Footfall. Agrion, Starfligh’t Martarma, and First Sight were restricted to strong work. Stormy is a doubtful starter in the Dunedin Cup, in which case A. E. Ellis wil] ride Thorndale. With the sting out of the ground, this latter combination will set a severe task to the opposition
