Two motorists coming upon each other unexpectedly at the intersection of Todd street and Wellesla-y road. Napier, yesterday, got into difficulty. By jamming on the brakes they managed to swing clear, avoiding a collision, but in doing so one car ran into a fence, while the other struck the concrete kerbing. Both cars were damaged. There were 220 bankruptcies last year in Auckland, a district which includes North Auckland except Whangarei. and stretches as far south as Taumarunui, excluding Hamilton and Rotorua. The total is a record, although 1927 was not a godo year from the economic viewpoint.
