BERLIN EXPLOSION
ASCRIBED TO TWO CAUSES. 24 PEOPLE STILL BURIED. (Received 6, 10.50 am.) Berlin, Jan. 5. The explosion (earlier report on page 3) is ascribed to the refrigerator for the five-storey block of flats, or the escape of coal gas. Twenty-four people are still buried in the ruins and it is feared they have been suffocated.—(A. and N.Z.)
