COMPETITIVE DESIGNS
SHAKESPEARE MEMORIAL THEATRE. WOMAN CHOSEN ARCHITECT. (Received 6, 10.50 am.) London, Jan. 5. Elizabeth Scott, aged 29 years, has been chosen architect for the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre at Stratford-on-Avon, replacing the theatre burned in 1926. There were 72 competitors. Miss Scott’s design is described as bold and splendid, taking full advantage of the beautiful site on the banks of Avon Cove.—(Com. News.)
