CROQUET.
FAREWELL TO KIA lOA MEMBER. The members of the Kia Toa Croquet Club gave a farewell afternoon last Wednesday to one of their members, who is leaving the district. There was a large attendance of ladies and the afternoon was happily spent playing various competitions. A dainty tea was served. The president of the Croquet Club (Mrs. Shattky), on behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Walker with a charming scent bottle, silver topped, and in the course of a graceful speech referred to the regret the club felt at losing such a good member, and also wishing her every success in her future home. Mrs. Sisson (Club captain), and Mrs. Lincoln (secretary) also spoke. Mrs. Walker, in responding, said she was very sorry to go and would always remember the happy times she had spent on the green. She thanked all present for their pretty gift and wished the club every success. The guest was then accorded musical honours and a very happy afternoon was ended. Among those present were: Mesdames Walker, Shattky, Hutton, Peene senr., Diamond, Hopkins, White, Gray, Sisson, Lincoln, Davis, Williams, Gadd, Dalton, McDonald, Scott, Garland, Wilson.
