FIGURES FOR DOMINION. A RECORD YEAR. According to the New Zealand Official Year Book lor 192 b, the total value of all buildings operations in cities, boroughs, and town districts for 1926-27 was £11,0141,389 (including £413,643 in respect of permits issued by three road districts), which is a record to date. Building operations in respect of new private uw< flings showed a decrease of 98, value £155,030. as compared with the previous year. New business premises exceeded those of the previous year by 15 in number and £457,233 in value. The statistician states that Wellington City’s total of over £2,000,000 is probably a record for building operations. Auckland City figures for the year are almost identical with those of the preceding year, although seven of the towns, which appear in the list showing the total value of buildipgs or alterations for which permits were issued in towns where a sum of £lOO,OOO was exceeded, are suburban to Auckland. Christchurch City shows a gain of nearly £lOO,OOO on the previous year, and Dunedin City almost £300,000. Appended are some of the details from the list referred to: —
