John Hay Ferguson, aged 60, a married man and an invalid for some time, was found dead at his reidenee in North East Valley, Dunedin with the gas turned on and a towel over his face. The coroner returned a verdict of suicide by gas poisoning while in a state of extreme mental depression caused by illness.
