N.Z. MEN’S TEAM RETURNS.
GOOD TIME IN AUSTRALIA.
Auckland, Sept. 6. The New Zealand hockey team returned by the UliSnaroa to-day. Speaking at a public reception, Mr. Kent, for the New Zealand Hockey Association, welcomed the team and congratulated them on their successful tour of Australia. The« team agree that they had a right royal time.
Mr. Williamson, the manager, says there has been a great improvement in the New South Wales team since a number of the team were here last winter. The test match againat Australia at Brisbane was a good hard game in which both teams were rather too eager to be able to give a good exhibition. Unfortunately, shortly after the start of the second spell, Cole, playing right half, received a knock on the knee which partly disabled him, although it did not cause him to leave the field. The team will play Auckland at Remuera this afternoon.
