Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for all events to be run at the spring meeting close on Friday next (9th inst.) at 8 p.m. AGRION AND VALICARE. Sydney, Sept. 5. Agrion has been scratched for the Derby, the trainer considering that as he pulled up lame after a gallop it would be too risky to continue training operations. Valicare, after a poor showing at Warwick Farm on Saturday, has been withdrawn from all spring engagements and will be rested for the remainder of the season. She may be later returned to the stud. PONY TRACKS. MAY RING LONDON. London, Aug. 23. “We hope to ring London with pony racing tracks,” a prominent official of the Pony Turf Club told the "Sporting'Life.” “When the first London course was thoroughly established it was proposed to build further courses at Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Bradford and Leeds, and in the populous Midland districts. It is aimed to make pony racing cheaper than horse racing, establishing the same popular basis as in Sydney and Melbourne.”
Lord Derby as patron has much to do with the formation of the governing body The stewards will include Lord Lascelles, Lord Carnarvon and numbers of many of England’s most prominent racegoers.
