HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated the 27th inst. from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow t Demand is improving but prices are unchanged. Auction to be resumed next week. Apples: Only a few large Sturmers left, selling at 14/- to 15/- per case. Wool: Little better enquiry after Bradford resumed work. Quotations for tops maintained firm at last rates quoted. BRADFORD WOOL. London, Aug. 29. The Bradford market is quiet. The Sydney opening produced a firm undertone, but not much business—(A. and N.Z.) WAIPUKURAU STOCK SALE. The weekly sale was held at Waipukurau yesterday, when a small yarding of sheep and cattle was offered to a fair attendance of the public. Prices were as follow:—Fat heifers £6 2s fid, fat bullocks £ll ss, empty cows £4 9s to £3 ss, yearling steers £4 2s fid, 2ycar steers £5 15s, 4-yr bllocks £4 5s to £7 4s, fat wethers 28s 9d, fat ewes 30s lOd, fat hoggets 26s 6d, wether hoggets 23s lOd to 17s, ewe hoggets 18s lOd. Stocks light SHIPMENTS FROM SOUTH AMERICA. FOR FORTNIGHT ENDING AUGUST 18. From Argentine and Uruguay:— 228,700 quarters chilled beef; 36,670 quarters frozen beef; 60,094 carcases frozen mutton ; 67,116 carcases frozen lamb. The quantity shipped to the Continent of Europe during the same period was as f0110w5:—78,474 quarters ftozen beef: 1.660 carcases frozen mutton. DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board reports the following prices as at August 26 :— Butter.—N.Z. salted 170/- to 172/up to 174/-, unsalted 174/. to 178/-. Market firmer.
