The usual monthly meeting of the Clive Grange School Committee was held on Monday night. Present • Messrs D. R. Mills (chairman). A. E Estaugh, E. J Calnan, C. I. Somerville. F .1. Hodgson and the headmaster (Mr. R. H. Florance). The headmaster reported that the roll number was 69. and tG‘ average attendance for the past month 59It was decided to send Mr. T. A. Smith a letter of thanks for his generosity in donating eignv-en books to the school library. As Monday is not a suitable night for all the committee, if was decided to change the meeting night to the last Thursday in the month. The Education Board notified the committee that the new piano woiS.l be forwarded in due course. Accounts amounting to £4 10/6 were passed for payment. Mr Mills, who has disposed of nis farm and is going to reside in Hastings, handed in his resignation as chairman of the School Committee All the members spoke of the great work that Mr. Mills had done in the cause of education Mr. E. J. Calnan was unanimously appointed chairman
A working bee has been organised for Thursday of this week to paint the church and to tidy up the grounds. All who are willing to help are asked to meet at the church at 9 o'clock.
