PRESENTATION TO M/SS KING.

(Own Correspondent.) There wa s a large assemblage of members and adherents of St. Andrew’s Church at the social gathering held in the Sunday schoolroom on Monday night in honour of Miss Muriel King, organist of the church, whose marriage took place this afternoon. The Rev. A. C. McLean, M.A., presided.

The proceedings opened with a community sing which was very much enjoyed. Miss L, Jones rendered a song, this meeting with well-deserved rounds of approbation. Then followed a vocal quartette by Misses Jones and Warren and Messrs Lunt and Hanies; vocal numbers by Misses Allan and Warren, Mr. Lunt, and Messrs Lunt and Hames (the latter contributing a duet), all meeting with very hearty approbation. Mrs Gow, on behalf of the ladies of the church, extended to Miss King the best wishes of many friends fo r happiness in her sphere of life and incidentally introduced a few appropriate reminiscences of earlv tlays. To Mr H. O. Hunter, the bridegroom elect, she also tendered expressions of goodwill, Mr E. A. J. Elliott voiced the sentiments of the session and Sunday School teachers, paying a high tribute to the service rendered Tor several years past by the guest of the evening in her position as church organist.

Mr. S. H. Wood (choirmaster) expressed the appreciation and goodwill of the choir members and said that he had been impressed with the valuable nature of Miss King’s assistance.

On behalf of the managers Mr. H. C. Wood said that it was with mingled feelings of please and regret that the congregation had met on this occasion—pleasure to do Miss King honour and regret at her departure as well as losing her services. He hoped that both Mis a King and her future husband would experience a total absence of adversity and a superabundance of prosperity. In making the presentation to Miss King of a silver tea service, also a tray, as a token of the esteem and affection of the congregation, the Rev. McLean said that he had enjoyed the opportunity of observing her attention to the unties « ner office, and he fullv appreciated the value of the assistance given, the congregation had felt that a fitting tribute should be tendered and amidst loud applause he handed the gift to the guest of honour, Mr. Hunter replied and thanked the speakers heartily for the kindly sentiments expressed, also their beautiful gift. A n appetising supper was dispensed by the ladies, and a happy function brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne." DAIRY CO.’S ANNUAL MEETING. The fifth annual general meeting of the shareholders of the W’aipukurau Co-operative Dairy Company was held yesterday, Mr. D. Eddy, chairman of directors, presiding over an attendance of about 20. The annual report was as follows:— ‘Tour directors have pleasure in submitting the fifth annual report and balance-sheet for the cast season.

During the season 277| tons of butter have been manufactured, which shows a very satisfactory increase of 91 tons over the previous year. After allow' ing £1055 4/2 for depreciation the balance of the appropriation account is £604 14/3 Your directors propose to pay 6) per cent, on paid up capita’ to shareholders, and the usual remuneration to directors. The year's butterfat payments have been 1/7 for July and August. 1/2 for September, l/2j for October. 1/- for November. 1/3 for December, 1/2 J for January, 1/2 for February, 1/2J for March and April, 1/3) for May. and 1/5 for June. The average payment already paid out is 1/3) lor the season, and your directors recommend the pay merit of a bonus of Jd per lb. oi butterfat, less the usual deduction for share capital. The quality of the butter during the season has been well maintained, the average grade being 94.072. “Our export butter was of particularly high quality, 90 per cent, being graded superfine, and the balance of 10 per cent, being first grade. In this connection your directors wish to tender their congratulations to Mr. Glentworth on the excellent results attained by being awarded second place in the competition for the Con trol Board’s Cup for the whole of the Dominion, for the greatest improvement in grade as compared with the previous season. The average test of cream during the season was 40.3. which shows the very satisfactory increase of .8 as compared with last season. Great credit must be given to Mr. Ballantyne, the Government Farm Instructor, for his invaluable assistance and advice during the season, which have tended L o improve the quality of cream supplied. “Owing to the deaths of Messrs Paul Hunter and A. J. Cameron, two vacancies occurred on-the directorate, which were filled by Messrs Percy Hunter and D. McMillan, respectively. Messrs Eddy, Hunter, Nelson, and McMillan, representing Tikokino, Porangahau. Elsthorpe, and Takapau wards, retire according to the Articles of Association, and are eligible for reelection. Messrs Edqv. Hunter, and Nelson have been re-elected unopposed, and as Mr. McMillan is leaving the district. Mr R. K Donald was nominated to fill the vacancy and duly elected. You will be required to appoint an auditor and fix hi s remuneration.”

The balance-sheet for the year ended June 30th shows the stock on hand as at July Ist, 1926, to lie worth £2547 11/- and June 30th, 1927. £3329 16/3. The amount paid to suppliers totalled £29,848. The value of butter exported amounted to £17,490 15/3. and sold locally £22,657 2/6. Ice and cool storage represent £320 19/9 ami buttermilk £55. The butter purchased involved an outlay of £305 2/10, boxes £626 7/11, fuel and electricity £543 5/5 and £ll9 9/respectively, motor expenses £B2B 0/6, oil £!()<) 610, repairs and renewals £278 0/10, and sundry materials £4lO 6/5. The manufacturing account thus involved reveals a profit of £5316 17/4. The profit and loss account shows the balance carried to the appropriation account as £669 17/2. The receipts of the account amounted to £5431 7/4. The liabilities (share capital, Union Bank advances, mortgage on residence, etc.) total £25,066 0/1, plus £604 14/3 from the appropriation account, this equalling the assets totalling £25,680 6/8.
