(Received 30, 10.40 a.m.) Londoo, Aug. 29. In place of the match originally arranged against Mr. Gate’s XI at Old Buckenham, a one-day match was substituted at Richmond, which gave the New Zealanders another opportudity of meeting club cricketers. The pitch gave considerable help to the bowlers and Richmond were dismissed for a small total despite the inclusion of the Middlesex amateurs H. R. Daries and C. D- Gray and O’Gorman, a well known comedian, who was promoted this year to the Surrey first XI. in which he performed well both with bat and ball.

McGirr and Merritt had another good harvest, six wickets falling for 14, and the whole side being out for an even 100.

New Zealand went in with plenty of time to get the runs, Dempster and Mills, the first pair in fact, hitting them off betore being separated. At the tea adjournment one wicket was down for 135, but after that the batsmen simply hit out and got out rather rapidly. They did not declare but went on batting until stumps were drawn at 7 o’clock, ivhen the total had reached 221 for eight wickets, New Zealand winning on the first innings.

O'Gorman did some good bowling for the club. New Zealand played a substitute in the person of Calder. Scores:— RICHMOND. First Innings. Dales, b McGirr 3 Fraser, st.
