Taranaki Oil Fields report that Waiapu No. 2 well is sunk to a depth of 2150 feet in grey shale, with a good showing of gas. An 8} inch diameter casing has been put down to 2140 feet and the water is increasing. At Gisborne No. 1 well no progress has been made owing to the difficulty of underreaming. A 12}inch diameter casing is now run to the bottom and drilling resumed today. ’
