FIRES.
OUTBREAK IN MUSIC SHOP. (Per Press Association). Marton, Aug. 29. At four o’clock this morning fire was discovered in the premises of the Marton Music Service. The bri-
gade arrived in time to quell the flames and only a small portion of the building was severely damaged. The stock of records and gramophones suffered from fire and water and the flames burn through a partition into a hairdresser’s saloon and did slight damage The premises are part of an hotel building, the bedrooms being above the shops but separated by a fireproof ceiling. The affair is a complete mystery.
10-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED
Cisborne, Aug. 29.
Essex House, a 10-roonied building at Hexton, the country residence of Mr. Percival Barker, and until recently used as a boys’ school, was destroyed by fire last evening. The place was insured for £2500 in the State Fire Office. No one was living in the premises and the origin of the fire is a mystery.
