The final crutchings sale of the season in Napier was held yesterday. Brokers report as under:— LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that they submitted a fairly representative catalogue to a good bench of buyers. Competition was good and general, with the result that a good clearance was effected at satisfactory prices Comparing prices with the previous crutchings sale, held last June, values were from id to Id better for medium to good crutchings, while seedy and inferior sorts were from par to id better. The second sale of crutchings took place yesterday with a total offering by all brokers of 1300 bales- Oui catalogue of 327 bales was mostly comprised of ctutchings, but included a few lots of odd bales of fleece wool which had been held back in the sheds. The bulk of crutchings were of good length, though many of the lines were somewhat heavy in condition. This would indicate that the growing clip promises well. There was brisk competition for good to super crutchings. the top price realised in our catalogue being ll|d.
