TIMBER INDUSTRY IN N.S.W.
NO MARKET
Sydney, August 26
At a meeting of the North Coast Federated Chambers of Commerce it was stated that the timber industry on the North Coast was in a parlous plight. Several hardwood mills had closed because they could not find a market for their timber, and soft timbers were rotting in the vards for a similar reason. It was decided to ask the Minister of Customs for an increased tariff! and to suggest that not more than 300,000.000 feet of hardwood be allowed 1 to be imported yearly.
