DARING BURGLARY

LARGE SUM STOLEN IN AUCKLAND.

STEEL STRONG-BOXES OPENED.

(Special to “Tribune.”) Auckland, Aug. 27. Another daring burglary occurred in the City Markets last night when a large sum of money was stolen from the offices of Radley and Co., city markets. It is known that the sum runs into well over three figures and it is thought to be somewhere between £l5O and £2OO.

Although a watchman is kept on the premises all night, the noise of machinery unstairs would deaden any sound below. The burglars must have worked very quietly as the discovery was not made until this morning.

The most amozing feature of the burglary is that the thieves, after breaking into the office, carried two steel strong-boxes next door into the premises of Glover and Co. and broke them open. A large number of crossed cheques were not taken.
