FAREWELL EVENING.

A very bright and pleasant evening was given by the giris ol the Hastings telephone Exchange co their' superior, Miss Al. E Hewer, on lie, retiring after completing thirty years service with the I'. and 1. Department. Items, which were much appreciated, were rendered by Miss K. Downes, and Messrs. Williams, Henry, and U'Donoghue. Games and dancing were indulged m to the strains of Mr. P. Waldin’s band, and very festive did the gay paper hats look harmonising gaily with the streamers and decorations. The evening terminated with tin singing of “She’s a Jody Good Fellow’’ and “Auld Lang Syne.” Among those present were:—

Miss M. E. Hewer, wearing a model frock of amethyst chiffon velevet, made with charming effect. Mrs Stockham, m a pretty oystei grey dance trock. Mrs williams, wearing black satm mai'ocain. with Spanish shawl. Airs Hewitson, oak crepe-de-chine, heavily fringed.

Miss Redward, in a dainty beigetoned panne velvet. Miss Mander, pretty dance frock of blue crepe-de-emne. Miss Stack, becoming frock of black channeuse.

Miss Hickey, black panne velvet, with vivid red posy.

Miss Simmons, pretty frock ol black and silver. Miss Wilson, royal blue, with trimming of gold lace. Miss Breen, Indian rose panne with touches of silver.

Miss Moriarty, lavender crepe-de-chine and silver.

Miss Arnold, scarlet georgette and gold lace. Miss Gay, bois-de-rose crepe-de-chine and lace.

Miss Lownes, delphinium blue panne velvet. Miss Hassett, pretty dance frock of pink taffetas, with bouffant skirt. Miss Roberts, apricot crepe-de-chine, with French tucks. Miss Pemberton, effective frock oi black velvet and lace

Miss Heriihy, maize georgette with dainty rose bud trimming. Miss Kirkham, pretty dance frock of Pavlova blue. Miss McCombe, black model frock. Miss J. Griffiths, old-gold crepe-de-ehine.
