Native pine trees in the puketitiri Bush which the Foresty Department purchased for milling purposes and which Hawke's Bay is trying to save from destruction. The bush is within a two hours motor drive from Hastings and Napier, and is on a good road. It is the finest block of Native bush in the province, and in its cool recesses the Tutaekuri river, which flows through Rissington, has its source. Money can destroy, but once destroyed ad the money in New Zealand cannot replace this rich gift which Nature has given in trust to us. Let us be faithful to that trust, always remembering that it is the rightful heritage of the generations that are to come.
