CROQUET.
VISIT OF ENGLISH TEAM. TO PLAY AT NORTH ISLAND TOURNEY. Palmerston North, Aug. 26. At tne meeting of the Manawatu Croquet Association Association, the chairman mentioned the possibility of an, English croquet team visiting New Zealand the coming season. The tourists, a mixed team of eight, have arranged to leave for Australia in January, and have agreed to extend their tour to the Dominion. A North Island test would be played at *ho North Island Tourney at Wanganui, and a test versus New Zealand at the Dominion Tourney at Palmerston North. A third test versus the South Island would take place at Christchurch.
