WELLINGTON FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET.

(Special to “Tribune ”) Wellington August 25. The Wellington fruitgrowers, comprising the firms of Laerv and Co Ltd., Geo. Thomas and Co.. Ltd., Thompson Bros.. Ltd., Townsend ami Paul, and D. Bowie and Co., renoi-t on the fruit and produce market .is follows:—

A fairly favourable market lias maintained during the week, although weather conditions have not been conducive to the improvement in values expected. A better demand is now anticipated consequent upon tile now improving weather conditions. Recent ruling values are as follows :—

Pears.—Winter Coles, choice 9s to 10s, others os to 7s 6d ; Winter Nelis. choice 7s 6d to 9s, others 5s to 6s: P. _Barry choice 8s to 9s. others (is to 7s; Keiffers, choice 7s 6d to 8s 3d. others 6s to 7s; Josephines, choice 7s 6d to 8s 6d. others 6s to 7s. Oranges: Poorman. choice Ils to 12s, others 9s to 10s. Lemons: New Zealand grown, choice 12s to 13s, others 10s to Ils. Apples: Delicious, fancy 8s to 10s. others 6s to 7s; Jonathan, tanev 8s to 9s, others 6s to 7s: Stunners, choice 7s 6d to 8s 6d, others 6s to 7s; Doughertys, choice 6s to 7s. others os to 5s 6d; Washingtons, choice 7s Ud to 8s 6d. others 6s io 7s. Poultry: Good enquiry for wr.licouditioned turkeys, geese, ducks and fowls. Eggs: Fresh Is 6d per dozen. LONGLANDS STOCK SALE. Hoadley, Son and Stewart, Ltd . report holding their fortnightly sale at Longlands yesterday, when they offered a fair yardrng of sheep to ‘ good attendance of buyers. The fol lowing sales were effected:—62 f. an-.i f. wethers at 29/3, 40 at 29/2, 70 forward ewes 18/6, 32 m.s. hoggets 21/8, 30 at 20/-, 23 ewes in lamb (R.r.) 23/9. 17 ewes in lamb 29/-, 1(1 f. and f. ewes 21/-. 40 fat ewes 25/-. 7 weds 28/6, 2 store cows £2 15/-. TALLOW SALES. Dalgety and Co.’s London office reports that there is a slightly better demand for tallow and prices are 6d per cwt. higher.
